Blue Ridge Boost is proud to host a WRO-USA Open in Charlottesville, Virginia. Compete for a chance to qualify for the Open Championship: Americas in Panama City, Panama!

Dates: Saturday, August 23, 2025 and Sunday, August 24, 2025

Location: Charlottesville, VA

Two teams from each category will join Team USA Robotics for World Robot Olympiad Open Championship, Americas in Panama City, Panama!

Please register by August 15, 2025. Late registrations will be accepted only if additional teams can be accommodated.

The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is a global robotics competition designed to inspire young people to engage in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education through creative problem-solving, teamwork, and robotics innovation. The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2025 is centered around the theme "The Future of Robots". This year, participants will explore how robotics can address global challenges and improve lives. The theme highlights robotics' transformative potential in areas such as reshaping cities, expanding human presence across the universe, and integrating AI-enabled robots into everyday life. With endless possibilities, WRO 2025 invites teams to design innovative solutions that shape a better future for humanity through robotics.

2:30 pm to 6:30 pm — practice and set up

Sunday

9:00 am to 10:00 am — registration, robot inspection, and set up

10:00 am to 12:00 pm — qualification matches

12:00 pm to 1:00 pm — lunch

1:00 pm to 3:00 pm — qualification matched

3:00 pm to 4:00 pm — break

4:00 pm to 5:00 pm — closing ceremony

Competition Categories:

  • RoboMission: Solve complex challenges with autonomous robots. Age groups: 8 to 12 (in season 2025: born years 2013-2017), Elementary; 11 to 15 (in season 2025: born years 2010-2014), Junior; 14 to 19 (in season 2025: born years 2006-2011) Senior
  • RoboSports: Engage in exciting team-based robotic sports competitions.
  • Future Innovators: Present innovative technology ideas and solutions. Age groups: students 8-12 years old (in season 2025: born years 2013-2017), Elementary; students 11-15 years old (in season 2025: born years 2010-2014), Junior; students 14-19 years old (in season 2025: born years 2006-2011), Senior.
  • Future Engineers: Showcase your engineering and design capabilities. Recommended ages 14 to 19.
