The Math Kangaroo competition is an international mathematical competition where students from grades 1 through 12 participate. The curriculum for grades 3 and 4 focuses on enhancing mathematical skills through engaging and challenging problems, building on the foundational knowledge acquired in earlier grades. The Kangaroo Mathematics Competition, set for Thursday, March 20, 2025. The class will continue for the duration of the school year to prepare students for the next year’s competition.
Objectives

- Encourage students to apply mathematical knowledge to real-world situations.

Sample Problems
Here are some examples of the types of problems students might encounter in the Math Kangaroo competition for grades 3 and 4:
- Example 1: A rectangle has a length of 8 cm and a width of 5 cm. What is the perimeter of the rectangle?
- Example 2: If you divide a cake into 12 equal slices and you eat 3 slices, what fraction of the cake have you eaten?
- Example 3: Sarah has 24 marbles. She wants to divide them equally among her 3 friends. How many marbles will each friend get?
